In the summer most people are on the lake, while other people are hiking the mountains. Big Bear is also a popular destination for mountain bikers. The slopes of Snow Summit have been home to some world class biking events in the past during the off season. Snow Summit has resumed their biking trails and have debuted with new trails added as well as a new zipline customized for the resort. As time permits, more biking trails will be added as well as more ziplines. The resort is undergoing major renovations that will take place over a 5 year span. The benefits to our mountain biker tourism will be tremendous.

The Sky Chair at Snow Summit is open and will take you and your bike to the top. Be sure to stop for a moment and take in the view. You can see San Gorgonio and Mount Baldy from the top.

With summer activities focused on our beautiful lake, Big Bear Lake is full of fun activities, fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, cable wakeboarding, inner tubing, jet skiing, pontoon cruising, motor boating, sailing, hobie-cats, canoeing, kayaking, electric boats, individual paddle boats, and a variety of water craft rentals. Lake tours, fishing charters, and parasailing options are also recommended activities.

Water skiing is very popular. Water skiers can enjoy a spin around the lake by renting a boat or hiring a company to tow you. We recommend you get out on the lake early. Prevailing winds come up over the Dam causing choppy waves after 11:00 AM on many summer mornings.

Of course, let's not forget about towing the kids in inner tubes. Don't forget about doing a picnic on the lake. Whatever you choose a day on the lake is always sure to please.

Big Bear Fishing

Our seven mile lake is known for its Big Bear fishing and hosts several annual events. Big Bear sponsors the Jim Hall Memorial Trout Classic in May. Don’t miss the October Troutfest. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout and we know where the fish are biting.

If you’re bringing your own boat, make sure to have a California boat permit, we've included a boating map of the lake for your convenience as well as the general lake regulations. It is important to know these rules anytime you or your group will be doing anything on the lake. The Maximum boat length is 26 feet. Maximum lake speed is 35 mph. The lake is patrolled throughout the summer months.
