Where to Eat in Big Bear Lake California

Big Bear has many things to do as well as restaurants and eateries to choose from. No matter what you're craving you're sure to find something that will satisfy. If you are looking to dine outside of your vacation home, or, if you want to bring food in. We have compiled information to help you find the perfect choice.

Fast Food:Located throughout the Big Bear Blvd., even though you are miles away you can still find most of the fast food restaurants you enjoy down the hill. Big Bear has, McDonalds, Taco Bell, El Pollo Loco, Carls Jr., Jack in the box, Domino's Pizza, even a Starbucks. If fast food isn't exactly what you are looking for, then there are always plenty of sit down restaurants to explore.

HUGE HOMECOOKED BREAKFAST: Here's where the locals hangout and returning visitors to Big Bear ALWAYS make sure they stop and have a breakfast at the Grizzley Manor Cafe', located on Big Bear Blvd. When open, it is quite common to see a line out the door and guests sitting and waiting. If you have a Paul Bunion Appetite, you won't leave hunger from this place! My good'ness, the homemade flapjacks are bigger than the plate! You will literally need to eat them from the inside out!

Pizza and/or Italian: While you are staying in your cabin, a great idea would be to bring in a pizza, or dine in one of Big Bear's many Italian restaurants. If you are looking for pizza, you can try Saucy Momma's Pizzeria (hand tossed pizza), Sweet Basil Bistro, and Paoli's Italian Restaurant - all are located within the Big Bear Village, Noble Romans Pizza is located inside the Big Bear Fun Plex, Maggios Pizza (welcomes large parties) boasts their pizzas are freshly cooking inside a brick oven, they also serve other Italian cusine, pasta's and more, Maggio's is located in the Stater Bros. shopping Center.

Casual Eats: If you're looking for a burger or sandwich some options to consider include the Bear Belly Deli located on Moonridge Road, (BEST BURGER in Big Bear as far as we are concerned) - their homemade salads combined with fresh deli meats and cheeses, featuring Boar's Head brands make for some very tasty good eats. Get the Burger is on the corner of Big Bear Blvd. & Fox Farm Blvd., they predominately focus their brand on making hamburgers. Another great place for simple fair is the BLT's on Big Bear Blvd., sandwhiches, salads, and homemade soup & a variety of quiche are perfect choices to take out for a picnic on the lake. If you're looking for some great homemade chili you can find that at the Big Bear Mountain Brewery, wash it down with some ice cold beer made right on the premises. Located in the Village of Big Bear are Boo Bear's Den restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Karaoke on Sunday evenings. Also in the Village is the Teddy Bear Restaurant, a smaller venue, one of the older establishments, serving good food to families since 1944. If you're on the north shore of the lake in Fawnskin, you must stop in at The Gold Pan Restaurant for a genuine home-style meal.

Tea Time: If you are interested in a light meal, how about indulging in a spot of tea? Believe it or not, Big Bear does have a tea room. The Mill Creek Manor Tea Room offers cold sandwhiches, salads, pastries, and scones. Reservations are required for Afternoon Tea, High Tea, and Dessert Tea.

Casual Steak Houses/BBQ: Big Bear Lake has many fine barbecue options. Among the local favorites are, The Millcreek Cattle Company & Steak House, this restaurant is located on the shoreline of Big Bear Lake and offers a beautiful lake view as well as live entertainment. Combined with the Diamond Lil's Saloon, the food is delicious and pleasing as well as the atmosphere. The Cowboy Express Steak House is near the Village and offers crowd pleasing barbecue and also has a bar area. Jasper's Smokehouse is located within the Village, a smaller venue but not to be missed, their pork spare ribs are to die for! Meat justs falls off the bone, their homemade desserts is another MUST HAVE! Save some room! B's Backyard Barbecue is another lakefront restaurant, also has a bar.

Upper Scale Dining: There are many restaurants within the Village or close by. The Evergreen International is nestled near the Village entrance and high above the base of the blvd. which offers breathtaking views of the lake. The Evergreen Restuarant presents their entrees beautifully with an artistic flair. The ambiance is upscale and the cuisine is Steaks and Seafood dishes.

Another restaurant near the Village, actually right at the entrance to the Village is the Nottinghams Restaurant. Nottinghams ambiance is an eclectic mixture of formal dining with warm welcoming touches, a fireplace is in one of the dining rooms, there are two other dining areas, one has a bar within it and then the additional option would be to dine within the bar upstairs. Nottinghams cuisine offers an eclectic array of steaks, grilled entrees, fresh seafood, and pasta.

In the Village is the Peppercorn Grille, Street-side dining as welll as a cozy intimate dining room. Serving lunch and dinner daily.

One of our more famous restaurants is the Captain's Anchorage, this was once owned by hollywood actor, Andy Devine, folklore has it that there is a ghost that roams the premises. The Captain's offers a variety of steaks, chicken, and seafood all prepared to perfection.

The Knickerbocker Mansion is one of our historic places in Big Bear. Offering exceptional dining on Friday & Saturday nights only. The Bistro at the Mansion offers a chef's menu for that would delight the most decerning palate.

Eclectic Ethnic Cuisine: If you're hankering for flavors South of the Border, from the Far East, European (German to be exact), or India or Nepal, Big Bear has quite a selection. German Cuisine is very popular in our Bavarian town, especially during Oktoberfest.

German & Other: The Log Cabin Restaurant located in the West end of Big Bear near Boulder Bay on the Blvd., offers authentic German Cuisine on their menu as well as an eclectic array of American favorites. The Old Country Inn also offers a few German dishes on their menu, the Log Cabin Restaurant & the Old Country Inn both serve breakfast and lunch as well as dinner.

Himalayan & Indian: One of the most unique in cultural dining that Big Bear has to offer is the tastes from the mountain ranges of the Himalayans. The Himalayan Restaurant serves the best Indian and Nepaleses food in California, located conveniently within the Big Bear Village.

Chinese: Serving the best authentic Chinese cuisine in Big Bear is the Dynasty Restaurant, only a brief walking distance from the Village, The Dynasty is the only restaurant in town that serves live Maine Lobster.

Mexican: If your taste buds are searching for South of the Border options and you are near the Village, El Jacalito Mexican Cantina is ready and waiting to serve. Along with their bar, they have dining in or outside. If the Village is not where you want to be, why not try the Sonora Cantina, Home of the big Juan Burrito! The Big Juan Burrito is not for the faint of heart. Probably the biggest burrito in the world, if you can finish it in 45 minutes or less you become an instant celebrity and win a T-shirt proclaiming your victory! The Big Juan is 5lbs. of delicious burrito, 4 meats, cheese, beans & rice. The Sonora Cantina bills Maragaritas as a their specialty. If you are a gringo will a big appetite, come in and take the Big Juan challenge. The Sonora Cantina is a smaller restaurant with an outdoor patio. The Hacienda Grill & Sports Bar has been recently remodeled and offers a variety of tex mex good eats. Both the Sonora Cantina and the Hacienda Grill are located on Big Bear Blvd.. Another great place to consider is the La Montana Mexican Restaurant located on Moonridge Blvd.. La Montana is a larger establishment that also has a bar. 

Sweet Treats & Specialty Coffee's: If you don't want to visit a restaurant but want something to satisfy your sweet tooth, we recommend stopping by the Copper Q, located within the Village, they are open daily for breakfast and lunch. Serving a variety of pastries, coffee's, tea's, and specialty drinks. The Copper Q is an experience all to itself as they offer many culinary retail items as well as hold instructional cooking and baking classes. Just around the corner from the Copper Q is the Sugar Pine Bake Shop, also has a location on the Blvd. on the west end of Big Bear, stop in for some fresh baked goodies on your way to the slopes, the Sugar Pine Bake Shop opens early!

Just a note, many restaurants offer take out, some deliver, if you would prefer the convenience of not cooking but wish to eat the food in the comforts o your vacation cabin. We highly recommend calling the restaurant of you choice to see if they are ones who provide the service.
